EcoScent Machines are an excellent way to diffuse fragrance in both business and home settings without the use of an open flame. While diffusers are generally safe to use you should follow certain guidelines to ensure the best experience for everyone in your business and household - children and pets included.
Be careful with pets and small children.
Since children and pets are smaller than adults, they may be more susceptible to scents. Animals may also have adverse reactions that are different from humans. The main health risks of essential and fragrance oil for pets come from direct contact (licking, absorbing into skin and fur, etc.) with the oil. If you're worried about your pet's exposure, monitor them for symptoms or seek guidance from your local vet. While low risk, some specific essential oils should not be diffused around cats and dogs, including Cinnamon, Citrus, Eucalyptus, Pennyroyal, Peppermint, Pine, Sweet Birch, Tea Tree, Wintergreen, and Ylang Ylang. Direct contact with essential oils on an animal's skin should be avoided. If your pet gets oil directly on its skin or fur, wash it off immediately with soap. If your pet has licked / consumed the fragrance oil or starts exhibiting reactions, you should bring it to a veterinarian as soon as possible. Essential oils should be kept out of the reach of your pets and shouldn't be left unattended. You should never directly apply fragrance oils to your pet. Cats are particularly vulnerable to fragrances. If you notice them getting sick, turn off the diffuser, open the windows, and take them to the vet if things get worse. While you’re at it, keep the diffuser out of reach so your human and fur children can’t knock it over or ingest the oil.
While fragrance oils can be dangerous to aquatic life it would still be safe to use an EcoScent system as the diffused vapor isn't going to pose any harm to the fish. We advise that you make sure to place the scent system away from the fish/aquarium and do not use where the fish have an open fish tank or anything similar. Never put fragrance oils in the fish tank or close to the fish as the fragrance oil ingredients can cause a reaction.
