Health, Safety & Compliance
At EcoScent, safety, transparency and regulatory compliance are central to everything we do. We design our fragrance oils and scent delivery systems to create beautiful environments while prioritising the well-being of clients, employees and visitors.
Fragrance Safety & Compliance
All EcoScent fragrances are developed in accordance with the latest International Fragrance Association (IFRA) Standards and relevant European regulations. We create and supply fragrances that comply with the applicable EU Cosmetic Regulation (where relevant), and all products are supported by:
- IFRA Certificates
- Allergen Declaration Certificates
- CLP (Classification, Labelling & Packaging) documentation
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Both natural and synthetic ingredients used within our fragrances undergo rigorous safety assessment. IFRA Standards are developed in collaboration with independent scientists, medical professionals and regulatory authorities. For over 50 years, IFRA has worked alongside the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM), which evaluates fragrance ingredients based on scientific data, real-world exposure and environmental considerations. All safety recommendations are reviewed by the independent Expert Panel for Fragrance Safety.
Workplace & Air Quality Safety
EcoScent scent delivery systems comply with UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations regarding workplace exposure. Our systems disperse fragrance at extremely low concentrations, typically well below one part per million (PPM), which is significantly lower than recognised allergy or occupational exposure thresholds. This ensures air quality remains safe while delivering a refined scent experience.
Use Around Children & Pets
When used as directed, our fragrances are safe for use in environments where children, cats and dogs are present. Our formulations contain no added toxins, known carcinogens or respiratory allergens and are paraben-free and vegan-friendly. As with all concentrated fragrance oils, products should be handled responsibly and not released into drains or natural watercourses, as concentrated oils may be harmful to aquatic life in their undiluted form.
Pregnancy Guidance
We prioritise compliance with recognised safety standards; however, we are unable to specifically endorse any fragrance or individual ingredient as being “pregnancy-safe”. IFRA does not provide specific pregnancy classifications, and European regulations do not designate fragrance ingredients as explicitly safe for use during pregnancy.
For cosmetic applications: Suitability for use during pregnancy should be assessed by a qualified professional as part of a Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR), taking into account dosage, exposure and intended use. For non-cosmetic applications (e.g. ambient scenting): Any assessment regarding use around pregnant individuals should be made by a qualified medical or safety professional.
If there are any concerns, we recommend consulting a medical professional prior to use.
Allergens & Natural Ingredients
Our goal is to formulate fragrances with low or no declarable allergens wherever possible. However, many naturally derived essential oils contain naturally occurring allergenic compounds. Where present, these are clearly declared in accordance with EU regulations and detailed within our certification documentation.
At EcoScent, our commitment is simple
